Ymca pools/Team building/Sleepover

On Thursday the 21st of February, Kia Manawanui had the rest of the week planned to do team building. We did team building from Thursday to Friday. Team building is when you form a group and work together as a team. I felt really happy when we were doing team building because everybody was getting along but some groups were not participating in the activities. The reason we did it was because the teachers wanted the team to get stronger and to build relationships.

The first thing we did was get ready for technology. We had to get our technology book, a pen/pencil and our netbooks. When everybody was at class we went onto the bus and left to tamaki college. The class I do is cooking, that time we made vegetable soup. It was yum but I didn’t like the vegetables because i’m not a big fan of vegetables.

After technology we bussed straight to the panmure pools. We put our technology stuff into Miss Aireen’s car. We entered the pools and we got changed in the changing room and then went into the pool. At the pool was when we started the team building.
The first activity we did was to jump in the pool lock arms with your group and walk all the way down to the other side.
The next activity was to race down to the other side with other groups and the first one there wins and gets ten points. When groups behave, sit in proper lines and be quiet then you will get 10 points.
The third activity was to have a beach ball and pass it back to the person at the back of you. The person at the back has to get the ball go in the front and keep on passing it back, the first group to get to the finish line wins.
The fourth activity was to go in the middle of the pool and exercise. The two exercises we did were jumping jacks and arm rolls.

The fifth activity we did was to have your arms in a rocket position and go to the other end and swim to the middle of the pool. Miss Aireen was in the middle of the pool so that we could see where we had to stop. The reason we did it halfway is because there were other people down at the other end.
The sixth activity we did was to face left and try to get to Miss Aireen by walking sidewards. We couldn't walk straight  or swim.

Then we had a break from activities and we had some fun. After we played we had to go and eat lunch. After lunch we got to have some more fun and then 15 or 10 minutes we got dressed into our uniform and walked to the bus.

When we got to school, we walked in a straight line to the hall. At the hall we waited till the bell rang and Miss Aireen dismissed us. Miss Aireen told us to go home and get your stuff but if you already brang your stuff then you can set up for the sleepover.

When everybody brought their stuff and set it up we did our first activity on team building. The first activity was to get in our groups that we were in at the pools, pick on person from your group to go and get a phrase. The phrase we got was “ Let's do the gangnam style”. We were all hoping that we weren't gonna get that one but unfortunately we got it. We had to come up with a skit that relates to our phrase we got, a name that relates to team building and a song that relates to team building. My group didn’t come up with a song but we did come up with a name and a skit. Our name was Attitude. When we finished we had to present it in front of everyone.
The second activity we did was to have a DANCE BATTLE!!!! First we had to get into groups and then choose a song that we want to dance to. When we choose a song we could come up with a dance to it or we could just do freestyle.
Getting ready for bed!
Most of the boys brang a tent and slept in it and only three girls slept in a tent. I didn’t sleep in a tent because I didn’t want to sleep in a tent but most of the girls slept in the hall with me. Only five boys slept in the hall with us girls. The boys slept on the stage and one boy slept on the other side of us.

Technology (Vegetable soup)

Talofa lava and greetings to you all, on thursday the 21st I went to Tamaki college with the Kia Manawanui. This time I was with a different partner, his name is Raymond. The items we used were: a Pot, 2 cups of water, serving spoon, a bowl and a spoon to eat the food with. Firstly we had to slice and dice all the vegetables and put them in the pot of water. Before we put the vegetables in we put the pot on the stove and waited for smoke to come up then that's when we know that we can turn it down put the vegetables in the pot. while the pot was heating up we slice and diced all the vegetables. After that Miss tupulotu came around and put some spices in the pot of vegetables. The spices made it smell so nice and taste so nice. We stirred the mixture then we got to go and get a piece of meat. While Raymond was stirring the vegetables I was cutting the meat into pieces, then I put the meat into the pot. Finally it was done and we ended up with vegetable soup. It was really yum but i wasn't really into the vegetable's, But then I got over it and ate it. Thank you!

Technology (cheese patty bread)

Talofa lava, Kiorana and greetings to you all, Today I came to school and got ready for technology and the Kia Manawanui syndicate bussed down to Tamaki College. We went inside put our stuff on the table, got a apron, washed our hands and sat at a table with our partners. My partner was Raymond, the same person I had last week. What we used to make the patties were: Meat and onions. What we needed to make the patties were: a pan, chopping board, knife and a plate. We had to slice and dice the onion and put it inside the meat, once we put it inside the meat we mixed it all up then grabbed some and made it into a ball. When we made a ball of meat we had to flatten it, shape it and then turn on the pan then wait for it to heat up and then put the meat balls onto the pan to cook. When we finished we got a cheese patty with bread. Thank you!

Attitude program

When Toni talked about all the things on the presentation Mr J and Mrs Aireen split the class into 2 groups and 1 group went with Toni to room 9 so he could teach us more about the animal personalities and then the other group had to stay behind and do some work. When we got to room 9 we played a little game called " stand up if...". We finished the game and we had to do a test kind of thing because there was a page that had 4 animals on it and it was the animal personality thing. The 4 animals were Lion, Otter, Beaver and Golden retriever, there were 4 columns that had words that describe the 4 animals, it also had little boxes next to the words so we could tick them. We had to look at the words to see if they describe our personality. The column with the most ticks is your animal personality, my animal is Golden retriever I got the golden retriever because I ticked most of the words on that one.

This is a photo of the book that we got from Toni that we had to do the activities in.

These are the 4 animals:

Start of the year!!! WEEK 2

WALT: Reflect on things we did today.
First, We made a class treaty for the Kia Manawanui syndicate. Since we were talking about the treaty of Waitangi,We made a treaty for our own class. The class from last year made a class treaty too. We had to do different words and we were in different groups that would have a category so we could make a word that would show school values.

These are pictures of groups that presented in front of the class and the first group at the top is my group. our word was Behave, so we had to make sentences that describe the school values. It also had to have words that would contain the letters of the word that you have. (e.g B: when in or out of class always BEHAVE)

Kia ora, My name is Syraiah-Lee
This year as a year 7 joining the kia manawanui syndicate group talking about our bio poem was very fun and exciting

If you don't know what a Bio Poem means it means when you describe things about yourself and telling others what your interest is and other people can get to know about you.
