Fixing our writing

Here is our edited story.
Things we learnt about were
We aren’t allowed to use then, and, also and because at the beginning of a sentence.
Speech marks go on the OUTSIDE of the full stop or other punctuation.
The end of a sentence can be marked by a full stop, an exclamation mark or a question mark. You don’t need to put an extra full stop after a question mark.
Remember to check ALL capital letters. Sometimes we need to put them in and sometimes we need to take them out.
On Monday 24th September 2018 Room 7 did a blindfold challenge. We wanted to have fun and make our morning a bit interesting by playing a game.

Firstly Miss Ashley told us the rules which was “no touching the tables or pieces of paper on the floor or you will lose points.“  However you are allowed to touch the chairs because you sometimes have to step over them to get to the end. Next we got into buddies. My buddy was Lucina.  We had to line up by the heater in our buddies.

First it was my turn to go so Lucina (my buddy)  put the blindfold on me (over my eyes) and helped me to stand up. The blindfold was tight it felt like a constrictor boa on my face. I felt so confused and disorientated because the blindfold was covering my eyes. Lucina told me to “go left, right, straight and step over.” I was feeling nervous and a little bit scared because “what if she was tricking me?“ and I was really doing something silly. I got to the end safely and took my blindfold off.

Next it was my buddies turn so I helped her put the blindfold on. I told her to walk straight first, then next turn left. She doesn’t know her lefts and rights so she went the wrong way.I said “no your other left” and it was a little bit funny. In the end we got to the blue fruit tray and we made it without losing any points!

I think I would like to do this activity again because it was cool to do something different and fun in class especially since it’s the end of the term and I think we are all feeling kind of tired.

Yoga recount and checklist

On monday 17th of September in  room 7 the students/room 7 did a special activity and it was the partner yoga challenge that some of the kids from this class did last year with Miss Ashley. We did it because it was for fun and Miss Ashley had it on a slideshow and she cast it to the tv.

The partner yoga challenge wasn’t the first thing we did. The first thing we did was doing the roll, getting into partners, moving the furniture away so that they could get some more space. I wasn’t doing it because there were no more partners so Miss Ashley said that I could be the photographer. What I saw was that I started off easy and then started to get harder and harder.the more it got harder the less people that were went to do it.

Tongan language week

“CHEEHOO!!!” wednesday the 5th of september 2018. Tamaki primary school had a sports day and we were playing games from tonga. We had to do it because it is Tongan language week.  We got it all sorted by some parent helper’s, student council and Mrs Tafea. We did the games outside/top courts/concrete and the fields.

LANITA
Lanita is a game that i learnt and others learnt how to play. How you play is you have to have 3 people on one side and 5 people on the other. The 5 that is on the other side has the ball and they have to throw it at you and you can hit it down or to the sides so that you can get to the first cone. Lanita is kind of like kick ball. If the other people catch on the full then that person that hit it is out. I played that game and i made it to the end and got only 3 homes. Mrs Tafea said “ change over!”. So we changed over and i was on the field trying to catch the ball.

Bani
Bani was one of the games that i played when you had to get into two teams and one of the teams has to have the ball and they have to knock the cans down CRASH!!!, when you hit the cans the other team has to get the ball and try to hit you while your trying to rebuild the cans and stay there for 10 seconds and kick it down. When they do that then they win.

Natural disasters

Natural disasters

Natural disasters are a phenomenon which occur all around the world. Some are caused by moving tectonic plates, some are caused by wind and air pressure, and some are caused by other natural disasters.

Volcanic Eruptions
Volcanic eruptions are when volcanoes are erupting. There is a ring of fire and it is in the pacific ocean which is really close to new zealand. Some of the top of new zealand is in the ring of fire. The ring of fire has over 452 volcanoes. People used to believe that there was a god of fire and his name is Vulcan.
Earthquakes
Earthquakes are made by tectonic plates moving. When a conterical plate and another contrcial plate meet then they form a earthquake because a contronical plate is land.
Hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones
Hurricanes,Typhoons and cyclones are all the same things but I think Hurricanes are bigger, faster also stronger but they all might be all the same strength speed even how big they are but I still think hurricanes are bigger.

Tsunamis
Tsunamis are mostly caused by earthquakes because when it happens near the water it could shake the water and make a huge tsunami. But when the tsunami crash it could make a huge flood some of the tsunamis are bigger than a house.
Tornadoes
Tornadoes they are hardest to predict because they form anywhere at anytime. After a few minute or hours it would. You would wonder what is a tornado in is mix of cold air and hot air the cold is at the top and the warm air is at the bottom. They form mostly in summer and winter because the cold air and the warm air. They fast but travel small and it over land.

Floods and drought
Flood mostly caused by tsunamis and rainfall. Because is the drainage is full of water is could make a flood. Some of the country’s has bigger flood than New Zealand. And do you know that if tsunami hits the town it could make the a huge flood and it would take for weeks to make the flood go away.
Blizzards
You may wonder what a blizzard is it is just like a snowstorm but with strong wind that blow the snow to a certain direction.blizzard Usually last for 3 or more hour or days. Sometimes a whiteout can happen, which is when everything is white it like a blackout it's when you only see black.

Dust storm
Dust storm are caused by strong wind, dust and dirt at same time. When the strong wind meets then dirt and the dust it could a little sand storm but when the strong wind gets more dust it could make a huge dust storm. But how do sand storm finish, the sand storm finish when the strong wind stops.

Man-made and natural disasters can devastate people and the places we live in. Although we can’t predict most natural disasters, we can do our best to keep safe and look after our properties and things we value.
